Richard was known and valued for many years by staff, volunteers, and those who used the services of both the Merton Faith in Action Homeless Drop-In and the Winter Night Shelters.
Some people from the Drop-In knew Richard over many years. A Drop-In volunteer remembers enjoying crossword puzzles with Richard, and how good he was at them. Some of us from the Night Shelter only had the pleasure of knowing Richard more recently. Although he had lived a complex life, Richard retained an innocence, a spirit of enquiry, a curiosity about others and the lives they lived, which drew people to him. He wished to know and understand other people. This was infectious and life-affirming.
